Mike's Story
Born and raised in South Central Los Angeles. Attended Russell Elementary school and Edison Jr Hi. Moved to Los Feliz area and attended John Marshall Hi School.
After graduating I reported to Fort Ord Basic Training. When I was released from the Army attended California State University Los Angeles where I received my BA, MA, and Secondary\TeachingCredenital.

Taught government/history for the Los Angeles Unified School District at University High and Wilson Hi at both there old and new campus. Also taught at Cal State LA and Pepperdine University
My fifth grade teacher, Sara Schaffer, inspired me to become an Educator and to run for public office.
I was elected to the Los Angeles Community College Board of Trustees in 1969 and elected to the California...Expand for more
State Assembly and served from 1973 to 1978 and rose to become the Republican Whip.
Presidents Ronald Reagan and George Bush appointed me to numerous presidential committees and commissions, including the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board, the U.S.-Japan Advisory Committee, the Commission on Privatization, and the U.S. Delegation to the United Nations International Conference on Indo-Chinese Refugees.
In 1980, I was elected to serve the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and am now serving my 9th term
I also serves on the Board of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority ,the South Coast Air Quality Management District,Metro Link, and SCAG
I reside in Glendale with my wife Christine Hu, and our son, Michael Jr. and daughter, Mary Christine.
